How to Buy Budgie Cages

Buying your budgie an appropriate cage is one of the most important aspects of caring for it. There are a few things you need to consider when choosing one. Here are a few tips for buying budgie cages.

Size

The most important consideration when buying a cage for your budgie is size. It needs to provide adequate room for toys, dishes, and exercise. Also, since these birds fly horizontally, width is more important than height. The minimum size you should look for is 18 inches wide by 18 inches long x 20 inches tall.

Material

The type of material the cage is made from is also important. Powder-coated vinyl or stainless steel designs are best. Whatever you do, don't buy a cage that is made from a toxic metal. Zinc and lead are the most harmful. Brass cages are also unsuitable because it produces toxic tarnish when wet.

Shape

You also need to think about shape when selecting budgie cages. Rectangular cages are the best option. Other shapes will reduce the amount of space your bird has to fly around. You should never buy your budgie a round cage because they won't feel safe in it. They will only feel safe is the cage has a wall they can retreat to when stressed.

Bars

It's also vital that to pay attention to the bars of your prospective cage. The bars should be spaced no more than 1/2-inch apart for budgies. If the bars are spaced too far apart, your small bird may get out. Sometimes, they may get stuck between the bars while trying to get out. There should also be horizontal bars on the cage so your bird can climb on them.

These are a few tips for buying budgie cages. To ensure the ideal health of your bird, it's important that you learn everything you can about proper budgie care. So, click here now to learn how to care for pet budgies properly.

very serious question about budgies.?
i have two budgies and lately one has been bullying the other. her wing tips are twisted as well as her tail feather. and we separated them when she started flopping around the floor flapping one of her wings. i inspected then both and they both don't seem broken. she looked like she was panicking. now she is just sitting there on the same spot for a few hours now, not moving, just shivering and twitching. she has lots of toys now but she is still behaving weirdly. is there anything i can do to comfort her or what is happening to her?

i want to give my budgie away...........?
i have a budgie who is about 3/4 years old and i think its a female but basically i think i should give her away to a better home because she does not have any other budgies to socialise with, all she does all day is stand on her perch and eat, i cant play with her because no matter how many times i try to train her she wont stop pecking and i really cant take it any more! i hate watching her suffer with boredom like this :'( shes not doing any thing with her life and shes such a gorgeous budgie and i wish i knew how important it was for a budgie to socialise when i bought her because my parents wont allow me to have more than one budgie :( so i have decided that i should give her away to someone who can play with her and give her budgie friends :( but there are a few problems firstly my parents will probably not give her away (because they probably wont be bothered) also my sister will be like NOOOOO and how will i find a good place for my budgie? please help i HATE myself for letting her live unhappily like this for this long and for buying her without thinking about it properly and learning more about budgies :'( thanks
